Afghan girl team wins big at a European robotics festival Listen

An Afghan girl robotics team has just secured the first position at the biggest robotics festival in Europe after being denied entry into the US twice.
Turning things completely in their favor after visa rejection, the all-girls team did not give up its hope. Rather bagged the first place at the Robotex Festival held in Estonia.
They developed technology that involves a robot run on solar energy that can potentially act as a breakthrough in the future of agriculture and farming in Afghanistan and the world over.
After not been granted entry into the US, the girls took to internet for help and after a lot of public outcry the girls were finally allowed to travel.
A symbol of great courage and bravery, the girls faced numerous obstacles to achieve their dream. One of the girls even lost her father in a suicide bomb attack.
“They [girls] are an excellent example for people around the world of what can be accomplished by young Afghans if given the right support and the opportunity to excel in their education,” shared Said T. Jawad, Afghan Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
For the girls, it is their second big win against 3700 other competitors and 1600 robots competing at the Robotex. Earlier in July, the team also won a silver medal for courage in the FIRST Global Challenge in Washington, D.C and had the privilege of meeting first daughter Ivanka Trump.
